What is Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile Dysfunction is usually associated with the inability to achieve or maintain an erection, however it can involve far more than that. Symptoms include a decrease in sensation during intercourse, changes to penile curvature, lowered libido and premature ejaculation amongst others. There are numerous potential causes of ED which could be physical or psychological; if you have any other signs suggesting sexual dysfunction then seek medical advice as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment options available.
Symptoms may include:
- Inability to achieve and or maintain an erection for sexual intercourse
- Low libido
- Decreased penile sensitivity.
- Decrease in penile size.
- Premature ejaculation or delayed ejaculation
- Curvature of the penis called peyronie’s disease.
Tadalafil
Tadalafil is a medication prescribed to treat impotence in men. It belongs to the group of medicines known as PDE5 inhibitors, which prevent an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type-5 from working too quickly and interfering with normal erectile function. During sexual arousal blood flow increases into the penis resulting in hardening and expansion – tadalafil supports this process by controlling enzymes that would otherwise reduce it thereby helping maintain penile rigidity during intercourse. Engaging in sexual activity is necessary to reap the benefits of tadalafil – without stimulation, it simply won’t do any good as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.
Sildenafil
Sildenafil is an approved medical treatment specifically designed to help men with erectile dysfunction, also known as sexual impotence. It works by preventing phosphodiesterase type-5 enzyme from malfunctioning and prevents premature blood flow through the penis when sexually aroused. This helps maintain a healthy erection for prolonged periods of time so that men can enjoy satisfying sex life without worrying about performance issues. Engaging in sexual activity is necessary to reap the benefits of sildenafil – without stimulation, it simply won’t do any good as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.
PT-141
PT-141, otherwise known as Bremelanotide, has been found to have a number of unique effects on the body. This neuropeptide targets melanocortin receptors and is connected with physiological criteria such as sexual function regulation, appetite control, and immunity. Research into this peptide began when scientists were searching for an agent that could darken skin pigmentation – it was soon discovered however that unexpected side effects on male arousal were occurring during trials! Unlike other drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction (such Cialis or Viagra),PT-141 works differently in that its primary target are brain systems instead of blood vessels making it more effective than traditional treatments available today.
Trimix/Quadmix
Erectile dysfunction medications have been around for years and are classified as a Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PD5E) Inhibitor. These medications were discovered by accident when they were first being used in clinical trials to treat high blood pressure. Common forms of these medications include Viagra (Sildenafil) and Cialis (Tadalafil) and work by inducing smooth muscle relaxation and increasing blood flow to the penis helping improve the ability to achieve and maintain an erection.
More invasive forms of erectile dysfunction treatment may also include penile injections. These injections typically consist of anywhere from two to four medications combined into a single injection.
- Papaverine HCL – Causes vasodilation (blood vessels to expand) and interacts with adenylate cyclase which results with increased erectile capacity by relaxing the smooth muscle of the penis.
- Phentolamine Mesylate – Causes relaxation and dilating of the blood vessels in the penis.
- Alprostadil – Causes vasodilation and dilating the vessels of the corpus cavernosum (the two masses of erectile tissue forming the bulk of the penis).
- Atropine Sulfate – Works by blocking nerve stimulation of muscles and gland to relax smooth muscles.
Oxytocin
Oxytocin, often referred to as the “love” or “cuddle hormone”, is a powerful neuropeptide responsible for generating trust and strengthening social bonds. This naturally occurring substance builds up during sexual arousal and its effects are then magnified after climax; with research showing that women report feeling greater satisfaction when taking oxytocin before sex compared to those who don’t take it. In addition, positive communication among couples increases due to this chemical’s calming influence on emotions – making it an integral factor in healthy relationships where partners feel more connected than ever!
