Loss of Muscle Mass

Putting in the work and still watching your strength slip is one of the more frustrating things a man can go through. Muscle loss isn’t always about effort in the gym. For a lot of men, it’s a sign that something on the inside, usually hormonal, has shifted, and no amount of extra reps will fix that on its own.

SYMPTOM CHECK

Is This Happening to You?

Weights that used to feel manageable now feel heavier

Recovery between workouts takes noticeably longer

Your body composition has shifted toward more fat, less muscle

Your arms, chest, or legs look smaller even with consistent training

Strength gains have stalled or gone in reverse

Physical tasks that used to feel easy now take more effort

WHAT'S BEHIND IT

The Real Reasons Muscle Loss Happens

Training harder isn’t always the answer. For many men, muscle loss points to something happening below the surface.

Testosterone decline

Testosterone is the hormone most responsible for building and maintaining muscle tissue. When levels fall, your body shifts away from muscle growth and toward fat storage, no matter how consistent your workouts are.

Age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia)

Starting around your 30s, muscle mass naturally begins to decline each year unless actively counteracted, and this process tends to accelerate as hormone levels drop further.

Inadequate recovery

Muscle is rebuilt during recovery, not during the workout itself. Poor sleep, high stress, and insufficient protein intake can all blunt your ability to hold onto the muscle you already have.

Chronic inflammation

Ongoing inflammation in the body can interfere with muscle protein synthesis, making it harder to build or even hold onto muscle regardless of how well you're training.

Poor nutrition timing

Not getting enough protein, or spacing meals too far apart, can leave your body without the raw materials it needs to repair and grow muscle tissue after training.

Underlying medical conditions

Thyroid issues, chronic illness, and certain metabolic conditions can all accelerate muscle loss, which is why a full lab picture matters more than assuming it's just age or effort.

YOUR PATH FORWARD

Rebuilding Strength the Right Way

Most muscle-loss cases we treat begin with Testosterone Replacement Therapy, since restoring healthy hormone levels gives your body what it needs to rebuild. Depending on your goals and recovery needs, this is frequently combined with our Anabolic Treatments program.

Comprehensive labs first

We confirm what's actually happening hormonally before recommending a plan.

Targeted anabolic support

Added when strength and recovery goals call for more.

Hormone-driven muscle support

TRT gives your body the foundation it needs to rebuild tissue.

Progress tracking

Your plan is reassessed as your labs and results change.

GOOD FIT?

Is This Program Right for You?

This program tends to work well for men who:

Train consistently but keep losing ground on strength

Notice their body composition shifting despite effort in the gym

Take longer to recover than they used to

Want a plan grounded in labs, not another supplement

Are ready to address the cause instead of training around it

Have been told their labs are “fine” but still feel weaker than they should

QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Can low testosterone really cause muscle loss?

Yes. Testosterone is one of the primary hormones responsible for building and preserving muscle, so a decline can make it much harder to maintain strength, even with consistent training.

Training builds the stimulus for muscle growth, but your body still needs the hormonal and recovery support to act on it. Without that, progress often stalls no matter how hard you train.

No. This is designed to work alongside your training, not instead of it, by addressing the internal factors that are limiting your results.

It starts with bloodwork. From there, your plan is built around your specific levels and goals rather than a generic protocol.

Many men notice improved recovery within the first few weeks, with visible strength and composition changes typically building over two to three months.

Our office is in Omaha, NE, but many men across Nebraska are treated through telehealth visits with medication delivered directly to them.
